British Land’s London logistics centre is growing
British Land recently received planning permission for its latest London logistics project. The 435,000 sq ft multi-level logistics hub at Heritage House in Enfield is part of a major logistics development programme totalling £1.3bn.
Earlier in the year, the company received approval for The Box at Paddington Central, a 120,000 sq ft logistics facility on the former Crossrail site, which will serve the whole of the Westminster area. The Enfield project has been designed by Harris Partnership, the same architectural team commissioned by British Land to develop the logistics plans for Finsbury Square car park.
The building will be situated near junction 25 of the M25, and will include two levels for HGVs. British Land also plans to achieve sustainability, promising that 80% of the building’s emissions will be offset by solar photovoltaic systems and air source heat pumps.
At the same time, British Land is in the process of planning additional logistics units, with a potential area of 1.6 million square feet. Sites on Old Kent Road, as well as Wembley and Thurrock, are potential development sites.
