Qatar’s stadiums will have a digital twin for the 2022 FIFA World Cup
On the zawya.com server, there was a report about the OpenBlue Pioneers Award, which was won by the world’s first digital solution connecting 8 stadiums, where the matches of this year’s World Cup will be played. It is authored by Intaleq, a Qatar-based provider of solutions and services for the sports and entertainment industry.
The installation itself works with Johnson Controls OpenBlue and Microsoft Azure technologies, and its main goals are to provide real-time maximum security in stadiums and prevent possible incidents much faster than traditional approaches can.
“Each stadium will have an interactive digital twin using live data with all aspects of safety, comfort and visitor satisfaction, enabling dynamic predictions and design of fully flexible solutions for changing scenarios,” the site writes.
According to the source, the number of tickets sold is close to 3 million, which requires intelligent security for the operation of the stadiums. The command team of the control centre will have a 3D digital twin – an interactive model providing live information. At the same time, it will also collect data from peripheral devices and systems, including, for example, weather forecasts, energy conditions, and so on.
“We are changing the way we manage security, as well as the dynamic intelligence of sports arenas, and embracing digital innovation,” said Abdulaziz Al Mahmoud, Chairman of Intaleq.
Prior to the development of this new digital solution, major sporting events relied on multiple systems and operators to analyse data and collaborate in teams. Incident responses were less effective and required much more time, effort, and resources. The digital twin and unified command centre enables a real-time view of the stadiums, interactive monitoring, remote command and control, more context on special events, and the ability to resolve an incident significantly faster. In addition, the workflow automation tool helps users automate standard operating procedures, allowing them to more easily control their stadiums.
